Neil Patrick Harris Denies David Brutka Breakup Rumors
On Friday, Neil Patrick Harris took to Instagram to deny rumors that he and his longtime partner David Burtka had parted ways and ended their relationship.
Harris posted a photo of Burtka with their children along with the caption, " I couldn't be more in love with my family. Any reports to be contrary are woefully mistaken. #grateful."
Harris' caption comes as a response to recent rumors first reported by The National Enquirer claiming that Harris had "walked out" on Burtka and the two had been living in separate homes.
Part of The National Enquirer's rumor report reads, "HARRIS has walked out on his longtime lover David Burtka, and the two have been living apart amid claims both were seen flirting with younger guys."
THE continues its story by blaming infidelity and lack of good parenting as the reasons behind Harris and Burtka's alleged rocky relationship.
"Both men - who've been together since 2004, and engaged since 2006 - are "highly flirtatious," according to another source. While David might come across as the 'Mr. Mom'-type in the relationship, saddled with kids on the home front while Neil does Broadway, the reality is actually quite different," said the source."
Though Harris has come forward and put the split rumors to rest, he recently revealed to Glamour that now that his "honeymoon phase" with Burtka has ended, the two continue to find ways to spice up their relationship.
"Honeymoon phases end. They just do. We're animals, and animals aren't inclined to copulate with just each other for the rest of their lives. So here's a challenge: How do you keep redefining your relationship? I think you have to find new elements that turn you on, and not only sexually," he explained.
Harris continued to reveal that having kids was the "new element" that helped to redefine his relationship.
"Having kids was one of those great moments for me. Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes. That sort of made me re-fall in love with him. That's another important thing to realize. Everyone falls out of love with everything. You fall out of love with your house. You fall out of love with your job. You just have to figure out ways to keep [the love] alive," he said.
