Jailbreak iOS 7.1 Untethered Cydia Tweaks, News, Download & Features: Malware Reportedly Affects 75,000 Jailbreakers
iOS 8 is getting closer to its arrival, but that won't stop jailbreakers from wanting to mod their iOS 7 devices with the newest tweaks. Though, it's recently been discovered that some 75,000 jailbroken devices may have been infected with malware, and they could have came from tweaks that were pirated.
AdThief Affects Jailbreakers
At least 75,000 jailbroken devices have reportedly been affected according to ijailbreak.com, by an iOS malware that is called AdThief. The malware was discovered back in March, and it only affects jailbreakers.
The creator of the malware was able to find a way that for every ad displayed on a user's phone that gains ad revenue, the profits go to the creator instead of the company that created the ad. Some 21 million ads were hijacked and likely lost revenue. Some of the victims were Google's mobile ad service AdMob and Mobile Ads.
In order to avoid getting infected with this malware, make sure to download your tweaks through reputable sources.
Now that you're ready to download some new tweaks, from reputable sources of course, let's look at the latest tweaks available for iOS 7 jailbroken devices.
FBNoNeedMessenger is a tweak that will excite many people who don't wish to install the Facebook Messenger on their iOS devices. Many were angered when they weren't able to continue chatting with their friends through the Facebook app. Instead, they were forced to download a separate app and chat from that app.
With FBNoNeeMessenger, you can do what you used to do, chat with your friends from the Facebook app, according to ioshacker.com. It will disable the requirements and that annoying popup asking you to download the Facebook Messenger app.
This tweak is available for free from Cydia through the BigBoss repo. Alternatively, a similar app that acts the same way is available. It's called BluePill.
To save your phone from slowing down and wasting battery, SmartClose can put your iOS 7 apps into a deep sleep mode. That means that if you have a ton of apps open, they can be running in a light mode. You choose which apps to put into this sleep mode by using the settings in the app.
SmartClose is a free tweak available through Cydia.
