After speculation that there would be a "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" for Wii U, the game's developer Sledgehammer is saying it will not be according to a tweet from Sledgehammer.

Wii U had previous versions of "Call of Duty" available for their system, but they won't be getting the latest version, "Advanced Warfare."

In a tweet Wednesday, Michael Condrey, co-founder of Sledgehammer, said the following disappointing phrase for Wii U gamers:

"No, no Wii U. That was an Activision decision," he said. "We are focused on Xbox One, PS4 and PC." 

It's unclear why Activision dropped "Advanced Warfare" from the Wii U.

Another publisher, Ubisoft, is dropping Wii U from future games as well. Ubisoft said it will stop making mature-rated (M) games for the Wii U after the release of "Watch Dogs."

Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemont says that Wii U gamers just haven't been buying the mature-rated titles.

"We we see is that Nintendo customers don't buy Assassin's Creed. Last year [with Black Flag] we sold in very small numbers," Guillemont said.

Ubisoft games weren't selling well on the Wii U as compared to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

That doesn't mean Ubisoft will completely stop selling games for the Wii U, just the M-rated ones. More family-friendly games are available from the publisher and those tend to sell well.

"What we see is that they are very interested in Just Dance, very interested by other kinds of games.

"So what we are trying to do is to focus more on the types of games they are interested in."
