MTV's Video Music Awards doesn't broadcast live Aug. 24 but celebrities like female rappers Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj are already making headlines.

Azalea fell from the stage during a performance at a VMA benefit concert Friday night. There was no word if the "Fancy" singer was injured.

She tumbled off while performing her hit song at The Avalon in Los Angeles and security guards scrambled to pull Azalea back onto the stage while Charlie XCX performed with her. After the song finished, she told fans she was "very blessed" not to have broken her legs during the fall.

Azalea finished the show and later posted a video of her fall on Instagram, jokingly captioning it with "Sorry but it would be a crime not to share this with you all, I know I laughed."

The "Work" rapper is up for seven VMA awards airing Sunday.

Meanwhile at rehearsals for Nicki Minaj's performance at the big event, a giant snake involved in the design bit one of her backup dancers during practice Friday. A six-foot-long boa constrictor named Rocky was on a dancer's shoulders when it clamped down on the inside of a dancer's left arm while rehearsing Minaj's song "Anaconda." The woman was treated on-site by medics before being taken to a nearby hospital.

Viacom Media Networks' director of production Chris Velvin said the hospitalization was only due to "an abundance of caution." He said the snake was not venomous and her injuries would likely be non-life-threatening.

Minaj was onstage at the time of the incident and asked, "Did she get bit by the snake?" She then rushed over to the dancer to see if she was all right. Rocky the snake had no previous bites on record, and has reportedly been in show business for 15 years. Producers of the show are planning to replace Rocky with another boa constrictor or python for Sunday's performance.
