According to Macworld, if you look into the history of releases of new products by Apple, most were released during the last quarter of the year, traditionally around October. Therefore, there are already rumors about the possible release dates of the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

The second generation iPad Mini was introduced in October 2013, so people who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the iPad Mini 3 are thinking that it will be out around that time this year as well.

It is likely that Apple will have a special event around October to launch the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 before the products become available in November. Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected analyst from KGI Securities said that the arrival of the iPad Mini 3 is likely to take place during the third quarter, with the product's launch between the months of July and September, a time which will also be utilized as the launch period for iPhone 6. 

According to PC Advisor, it is probable that the iPad Mini 3 will not actually have this name because the second-generation iPad Mini was named the iPad Mini Retina. The latest rumor says that it might be called the iPad Mini Air. It will also be about 30 percent thinner than the second iPad Mini, which will bring its thickness to 5.25mm. It might have an A8 processor and an 8Mp iSight camera, and it is likely that the price will be the same as iPad Mini Retina.

On the other hand, the iPad Air 2 is believed to have a 2 GB RAM, which will enable the device to have split-screen multitasking capability. One other rumor circulating around is that iPad Air 2 has already gone into mass production and will also be revealed toward the end of Q3 or early Q4.

The supply may be limited initially because production has encountered problems with the anti-reflective coating on the screen. There is also a buzz that a Touch ID fingerprint sensor will be added to the iPad Air 2.
