After being one of the biggest winners at Premios Tu Mundo last week, Gaby Espino has now announced that she and Jencarlos Canela have split.

The two released a joint statement on Twitter.

"To all the mediums and the general public: For the immense affection that we have for our fans around the world, we want to let you know that for some time we mutually decided to put an end to our relationship. It's on good terms and with all respect that our family deserves," the message begins.

The two continue by asking fans for support and understanding of their situation, especially because the relationship was about the two of them and no one else.

"We are not separating, because when there is family that word doesn't exist," the message said. "We have simply decided to remain good friends and move forward. We also want to take the opportunity to tell the media that only through this message will we be talking about our relationship."

The two then released additional messages on their Twitter accounts.

Espino released her message first, where she explained how important Canela will continue to be to her. Other than her children, she said, Canela is the most important to her, she said.

"My best partner, the best father and my best friend," she said. "We are more united and stronger than ever... and more importantly, we're fine."

Canela's message similarly spoke highly of Espino. He called her one of the best decisions in his life, and said that no one or anything was above the love and friendship the two shared.

"I couldn't have asked for a better mother, friend and woman to have a beautiful family with, which completes me and gives me strength," he said. "Thanks for everything. I Love You."

The two didn't explain why they decided to split up.
