iOS 7 Release Date 2013 Features & Rumors: What to Expect at Tomorrow's Apple Conference
Tomorrow, Apple will hold its Sept. 10 event where the release dates for iOS 7, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C are expected to be announced. As the event draws near, many tech-savvy individuals are getting a better idea of what else the event might entail and why it matters.
Apple's press conference may discuss the business side of Apple. Apple is expected to announce agreements with China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo. This rumor has been fueled by the many trips Tim Cook, Apple CEO, has recently made to China.
According to Forbes, If Apple begins to distribute iPhones through China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo, their potential market will be increased by about 800 million. During the last four quarters, Apple only sold 121 million phones. As a result, if a deal with these Chinese corporations is made, Apple will increase its iPhone sales by 60 percent and receive 10 percent market share with the new carriers.
Apple's A7 processor could also be on the event's agenda. The A7 processer will power the iPhone 5S and the next generation of iPads. The processor is Apple's answer to the Nvidia Tegra 4, Intel Atom processors and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.
Touch sensor-based fingerprint technology may also be a part of the Sept. 10 event. More than a year ago, Apple acquired Authentec, one of the world's leading providers of touch sensor fingerprint authorization. With fingerprint-reading technology, Apple products will be more secure. It could also serve as a route for Apple to enter the realm of mobile payments, heightening the usefulness of the Passbook app.
Apple might also announce more content partners for the Apple TV. A new television, however, is unlikely.
Meanwhile, new Mac laptops or iWatches are also unlikely for tomorrow's event. Last year, new Mac laptops were not announced until Oct. This could change if the laptops have fingerprint-reading technology or a wireless charging pad that is built-in.
Apple's launch event will begin tomorrow in Cupertino at 10 a.m. PT.
Apple announced a new version of iOS 7 in June, with promises to release it this fall. Rumors have it that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be released Sept. 20. As a result, some believe iOS 7 will be released sometime after the Sept. 10 conference but before Sept. 20.
In addition to the newest iPhones, iOS 7 is expected to be compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod touch fifth-generation, iPad 4 and older versions and iPad mini.
