HBO 'True Detective' Season 2 Cast & Premiere Date: Rumors Suggest Colin Farrell, Elizabeth Moss and Vince Vaughn to Fill Roles by 2015
Many people were thinking that "True Detective" would be a big winner at this year's primetime Emmy Awards, only to be disappointed when the winners were announced.
Now the rumor mills are once again very busy because the cast lineup for the next installment is still unannounced.
HitFix had previously suggested there seemed to be something wrong with the production. While there have been many rumors circulating since early August, HBO has not denied nor confirmed any of the speculations.
Even with no final decision on the next season's cast of detectives, fans are thinking that filming has already started and that an early 2015 premiere is likely.
Forbes had earlier suggested that HBO might be struggling to find actors of the same caliber as Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, while observers are questioning whether or not "True Detective" Season 2 will match the previous season's success.
Still very much unconfirmed, there are rumors that Colin Farrell has already signed up to be one of the good guys, while the female lead will be Elizabeth Moss, Gospel Herald reports.
The third detective, according to such rumors, will be Taylor Kitsch.
There are also rumors that Vince Vaughn will join the show as the lead villain, playing the role of Frank Semyon, the ruthless businessman who's deeply involved in the shady deals for the high-speed railway scheme.
Even if this information is accurate, having an A-list cast cannot guarantee that the show will be a success. There is such a thing as chemistry among the cast members.
In the first season, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson successfully played off each other, which made the show flow smoothly.
Fans and critics seem to have mixed feelings about the inclusion of Vince Vaughn, even if the rumor is true. The major question is whether the comedic past of the actor is suitable for the dark setting of "True Detective." Nonetheless, Vaughn does have a string of dramas under his belt and he has proven himself to be a versatile actor.
