Today, Robin Quivers, co-host of "The Howard Stern Show" announced that she spent the past year battling cancer.

Quivers, who has been Howard Stern's co-host since 1981, has not been in the show's studio for a year. She made her announcement this morning on "The Howard Stern Show" on SiriusXM radio.

In May 2012, Quivers told fans that she was undergoing "a procedure" to remove a tumor that was discovered on her bladder.

"When you see me, I'm peeing," Quivers said. "It could be something not so bad. It could be really bad...Hopefully, it's something that can just be cut out."

"Doing a show without Robin is like cutting off my left arm," Stern said during his first show without Quivers. "Or my right arm. Or maybe both."

Stern has stated on several different occasions that he would not continue "The Howard Stern Show" without Quivers.

"She was my backbone, you understand," Stern said. "Where I would lose courage, Robin always had the courage. She always is the brave one. Always the brave one with me. I could go to her, and I could always rely on her."

Stern struggled when he learned about Quivers' illness. "I'll f*cking kill you if you have cancer," Stern said when Quivers announced her procedure. "I'm not doing the show without you...I'm quitting if you're not doing the show."

Stern also was not optimistic regarding her battle and said that he still gets chills when he listens to Quivers tell her story. "I gotta be honest; I thought she was a goner," Stern said.
