Freddie Roach revealed that Manny Pacquiao could go down in weight after his upcoming fight against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

Roach said in an interview that Pacquiao could go down to 140 pounds if he wins in his next fight against Algieri to face either Danny Garcia or Lucas Matthysse early next year.

The Hall of Fame trainer said that he is open to facing Garcia or Matthysse. But if given the chance to pick, Roach said that he wants Pacquiao to go up against Garcia, the reigning World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association light welterweight champion.

"Garcia, I think, would be a perfect opponent for Manny," Roach said on Thursday via Yahoo Sports. "He beat Amir Khan when I had Amir. I know he's a tough guy who comes to fight and he's a quality guy. I'd love a Matthysse fight, too, but I think Garcia would be the one I'd push for if Manny gets past this guy [Algieri]."

Pacquiao, who is a heavy favorite to win against Algieri later this year, has been fighting either at 147 or 145 over the past several years, but the former pound-for-pound king reiterated that he could go down to 140 or even to 135 pounds easily.

"I could make either weight, 135 or 140, easily," Pacquiao said. "It would be easy for me. I am at 147 because that's where the action is in terms of the opponent, but it wouldn't be hard."

But when asked if he has plans to move up in weight to get a big-money fight, Pacquiao sounded cold to the idea, saying that he learned a lot from his fight against Antonio Margarito in 2010.

Pacquiao faced Margarito at 154 pounds for the vacant WBC light middleweight title. While the Filipino boxing icon won against his much bigger opponent, he said that fighting at that weight was a big mistake.

"Margarito, that fight was a mistake," Pacquiao said. "That's why you never saw me in that class again. I've stayed at welterweight because there have been a lot of fights here for me, but it's definitely no problem at 140 or even at 135. If there is a big fight there, let's do it. It's easy."
