'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Cast, News & Release Date: Dakota Johnson, Director Sam Taylor-Johnson See Drama Ahead of 50 Shades Premiere
The director and star of "Fifty Shades of Grey" have both encountered some drama lately.
Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele in the upcoming movie adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel of the same name, comes from a thespian family. Her mother is Melanie Griffith ("Working Girl"), her father is Don Johnson ("Miami Vice") and her grandmother is Tippi Hedren ("The Birds"). Although acting runs in the family, Johnson's father is reportedly not too happy about Johnson upcoming role, which is her biggest to date.
According to Hedren, Griffith's mother, she and Johnson's father have similar feelings about the film.
"I understand Don Johnson is very upset about her being in the film," she told The Hollywood Reporter's Off the Cuff podcast. "He kind of had the same feeling that I did."
Hedren does not plan on seeing "Fifty Shades of Grey" when it comes out.
"I've seen the trailer," she continued. "That's all I have to watch."
Meanwhile the home of "Fifty Shades of Grey" director Sam Taylor-Johnson, which she shares with actor husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Godzilla"), was raided by police.
"We can confirm that early this morning police were called to the London home of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor-Johnson following a report of a firearm on the premises by a concerned passer-by," a spokeswoman for the pair told BBC on Friday. "The family were not present in the property at the time but the police gained entry via a key holder."
No arrests were made following the raid.
"The firearm was located in Sam Taylor-Johnson's basement studio and has been confirmed as a certified and fully decommissioned M16 assault rifle that was provided to Mrs Taylor-Johnson by the international charity Peace One Day as part of an art project entitled 'Peace One Day M16,'" the spokeswoman continued. "The project, curated by Jake Chapman, consists of new works by some of the most celebrated names in contemporary art all of whom are transforming fully decommissioned M16 assault rifles."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015.
