Aside from the hype and anticipation for the expected unveiling of Apple's iPhone 6 on Sept. 9, tech market watchers also speculate that the Cupertino-based company could launch its version of the iWatch smartwatch as well. The website Re/Code has confirmed that the September event reported last Friday would also be the day when the wearable device would be announced.

This means that Apple would finally give an idea of what the gadget would look like, as well as its features and specs, without actually selling it just yet. Its release would be similar to how Apple launched the first iPhone -- it took months before it was actually shipped and made available to the mass market. 

According to an anonymous source who is familiar with the matter who was cited by Re/Code, the iWatch will "not be shipping anytime soon," suggesting the possibility that it could take until early 2015 for it to be available.

However, Mashable suggests that Apple could make the release right in time for the holidays for it to gain some momentum. It also suggests that production may have begun in July, making it possible for the iWatch to come out by October. If production did begin on July, though, two months might not be enough for the wearable tech to be readily available to consumers.

The question for Apple of if they would be making a smartwatch has shifted to a matter of when the company will be having its first entry to the wearable tech arena. Critics have pointed out how Apple experienced a lull in innovation despite being well known for being the leader in that field. Nonetheless, they are also known for making big surprises by keeping quiet about the upcoming releases. This could be one of those, especially after Tim Cook assured the shareholders that the company would never release a lousy product.
