The Boston Celtics could be forced to trade Rajon Rondo this offseason or before the upcoming season's trade deadline after the All-Star guard reportedly expressed interest in a change of scenery.

The Minnesota Timberwolves recently traded Kevin Love after the superstar forward declined to sign an extension, and Jackie MacMullan said that the Celtics are now in a similar situation.

In an interview during the "Around the Horn" segment, MacMullan confidently said that the Celtics will trade Rondo, who could become an unrestricted free agent after the 2014-15 NBA season.

"I know it. And it will happen because he's told him he wants out," MacMullan said when asked if Rondo will be traded. "And no one believes me, but that's the truth. And I don't see how you get 80 cents on the dollar for him."

MacMullan also added that the New York Knicks and the Sacramento Kings are expected to make a run at acquiring Rondo, but she pointed out that both teams might not have the assets the Celtics are looking for.

The Kings are expected to offer a trade package involving Ben McLemore, but a trade between Boston and Sacramento looks unlikely, considering the fact that Rondo has already made it no secret that he is not willing to sign a long-term deal with the Kings.

MacMullan also played down the possibility of a trade between the Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers that would reunite Rondo with former coach Doc Rivers.

MacMullan said that Rivers, the Clippers coach and president of basketball operations, is not interested in coaching Rondo again, and the team already have their long-term point guard in Chris Paul.

"He doesn't like Rondo, remember that," MacMullan said of Rivers. "I mean, he's done with Rondo. They went a good, long way together, but that guy, Rondo drives him nuts. And they have Chris Paul anyway. They don't need him."

Among the teams that could make a run at acquiring Rondo, MacMullan believes that the Phoenix Suns have best assets to convince the Celtics to trade away their 28-year-old star.

"I thought maybe Phoenix might be interested because Ryan McDonough knows him, and they've got Bledsoe so maybe that works. Maybe that works," MacMullan said.
