'Shameless' Season 5 Spoilers: Cast Members Premiere in New Episodes, Will Emmy Rossum's Character Date Jack? [Trailer]
Although there has been no formal announcement yet, it has been reported that Season 5 of "Shameless" is scheduled to premiere in early 2015.
According to Christian Post, the new episodes will see a new love interest for Fiona, the character played by Emmy Rossum. Going by the premiere dates of the previous four seasons, it is very likely that the forthcoming season will drop by the early part of January.
Dermot Mulroney will be joining the cast in Season 5, TVLine reports. He will be portraying Pierce, a recovering addict and the new manager at Patsy's Pies where Fiona works. It's been said that their previously innocent relationship will grow flirtatious in Season 5. His character will have to contend with other personalities interested in Fiona as well, played by actors Steve Kazee and Australian actor Axle Whitehead.
Making a comeback is Justin Chatwin, who played the role of Jimmy and was thought to be dead in Season 3. He made a surprising comeback towards the ending scene of the last episode of Season 4 and he is now known as Jack. That ending had fans going wild thinking about the possibilities of how he came back. Everyone thought he was chopped up and his body parts were thrown into the sea.
Jimmy Wells, the show's executive producer said that they are listening to the questions raised by the audience regarding Jimmy's disappearance but will not give any details. So far, fans have come up with three major theories on why Jimmy came back. He might be trying to win back Fiona's love, but his problems are more serious than Robbie's. Also, it does not mean that Fiona will take him back after being missing for several months.
Fans also think that he might have a debt to pay Estefania's protective father. Jimmy is a survivor and he might have made a pact with Estefania's dad, for a price. Another theory is that Jimmy managed to survive when he was thrown overboard. So now he is on the run, hence the new name.
