On Sunday, Jimi Jamison, lead singer of the rock bands Cobra and Survivor, died of a heart attack at the age of 63, TMZ reports.

Sally Irwin, Jamison's booking agent, confirmed the singer's death to TMZ. Irwin confirmed that Jamison passed away at his home in Memphis, Tennesse this past weekend.

"We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the passing of a great musician, loving father and grandfather, and overall extraordinary, giving, and kindhearted human being," Jamison's Facebook fan page read. "He's loved by so many, most of all his family, and he will be incredibly missed by all. Please keep his family in your prayers, and please give them the privacy they need during this extremely difficult time. Thank you all for your condolences and kind words."

Following the FB post, Jamison fans immediately flooded the singer's fan page with loving comments.

"I cannot believe it! He was my favorite vocalist and singer ! I am so upset!," Facebook user Adam Quraishi wrote.

Another Facebook user Barbara Monaco wrote, "RIP Jimi!!!! . My favorite guy. One of the best singers ever, and so handsome. I'm so upset today."

Jamison first joined Cobra in the early 1980s and then Survivor in 1984, following the release of one of the band's biggest hits "Eye of the Tiger," reports The New York Daily News.

Jamison then went on to perform with the band for several years and sang lead for Survivor hits such as "Burning Heart," which appeared in the film, "Rocky IV" "Is This Love," and "The Moment of Truth," which was featured in the movie, "The Karate Kid."

As a solo artist, Jamison co-wrote and sang the "Baywatch" theme song, "I'm Always Here."

Two years after joining "Survivor, Jamison had an interview with The Times where he revealed his preference for singing ballads over heavy metal. He also expressed his joy over joining "Survivor" at the time, The Los Angeles reports.

"I did a lot of screaming in those other groups," he said, recalling his heavy metal days. "I got a little tired of it. I don't lose my voice as much on this kind of singing."

Jamison then expressed his feelings towards singing ballads. "I like to sing [ballads] more than anything else, but I didn't get much of a chance before. Being in this group is just right for me," he said.
