Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Relationship News Update 2014: Pop Star Opens Up about Ex-Fiancé, Admits Couple Still Loves Each Other
A year after breaking off her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus opened up about her ex-fiancé during a recent interview in his native country of Australia.
Sitting down with host Christine Bath of "Sunday Night," the pop star revealed that the couple still loves each other. "I love Liam, Liam loves me," she said.
Cyrus then admitted that her 2013 album "Bangerz" was about the breakdown of the pair's romance. However, she denied "Wrecking Ball" was about the "Hunger Games" actor.
"It's about finding yourself and sometimes you have to separate yourself from everyone," she said of her ballad hit. "I just had to become this person who is sitting in this chair right now. If I didn't, I just felt like there was something that was going to explode and I had to set myself free."
The "We Can't Stop" crooner previously discussed how difficult it was to end the relationship and cope with the heartbreak. "I locked myself in my room and my dad had to break my door down," she said in Elle magazine's April issue.
However, Miley Cyrus also said that her split from Liam Hemsworth allowed her to become more independent.
"When I was with [Liam] or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn't there to carry me anymore or if I didn't have him," she said. "And now I'm free of both of those things, and I'm fine. Like, I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally okay, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn't have a boyfriend."
