'Orange Is the New Black' Cast and New Season: Remy Ma Dishes on Real Prison Life vs. ‘OITNB’
During a recent interview with MTV, Remy Ma opened up about living life in jail for over six years and how her prison life compares and contrasts to how prison life is portrayed on the hit Netflix show, "Orange Is the new Black."
While interviewing with MTV, Remy Ma was asked to watch several "OITNB" clips and provide commentary on whether the show provided a realistic portrayal of real prison life.
Although Ma revealed that "OITNB" was a bit too PG in comparison to real prison life, the New York rapper did draw some parallels from the show.
According Remy Ma, the animosity among inmates and the many fights portrayed on the show are accurate.
"You have 900 women stuck in one place. Some of them are never gonna go home. It's a very angry environment at times. You know there's people that just walk around all day miserable. Fights do happen. I've seen them," she tells MTV.
Remy Ma also agreed with "OITNB's" depiction of heat constraints in prison.
"There's always a problem with the heat. It never comes on the days it's supposed to come on. It be freezing. It's cold in September and we're upstate. So you're already cold," she says.
Despite her opinion that "OITNB" might be too PG in comparison to what she experienced, Remy Ma did reveal that she would love to be on the show.
"I would actually love to be on the series. I think that would be cool to actually be in it," she reveals.

When a TMZ photographer approached Ma in NYC and asked her to compare "OITNB" to her real-life experience, she simply responded that her prison bid was "a little bit worse" than "Orange is the New Black." She also described prison food as "horrible."
