'The Originals' Season 2 Spoilers and Synopsis: Hayley Becomes 'Angry', More Crossovers With 'The Vampire Diaries'
"The Originals" are set to kick off a new dynamic season next month on The CW that will feature a fiery Klaus and a new "angry" Hayley.
Last season ended with an intense finale and a number of shocking moments, including Hayley's transition into a hybrid and the return of Rebekah. In addition, Klaus and Hayley's baby was finally born. However, after the birth of baby Hope, Klaus was forced to stage his daughter's death in order to protect her and send her off to live with his sister Rebekah, who made a surprise return after leaving the show earlier in the season.
Season 2 will pick up right where the first season left off and according to executive producer Michael Narducci, the vampires will have lost control of New Orleans to the Guerrera werewolves who "have taken control of the French Quarter," he told TVLine.
After losing his baby Hope, Klaus will focus on destroying anything that poses a threat "to quite catastrophic effect," said the EP.
In the meantime, Cami will feel obligated to be there for Klaus, even though she is seeing another man.
"They certainly start off in a place where Cami is seeing someone else. Yet, she feels a responsibility [to help Klaus] because she knows she has a connection to this guy -- when she speaks, he listens," said Narducci.
Fans of "The Originals" will also see a new "defensive" and "angry" Hayley as she copes with her new transition into a hybrid and wonders "if [Elijah's] ability to look down on vampires translates to her," he teased. "Hayley's new status will force them to have some interesting conversations about what this means for their future." Plus, Elijah's "decision on what to do to help her is going to be a bit surprising."
Furthermore, the EP hinted that there could be more crossovers between "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" in the upcoming season.
"There's an interesting possibility for some flashback stuff," he said, adding, "Remember, that's where the Original family was -- in ancient Mystic Falls."
According to Hypable.com, "The Originals" also released a synopsis about Season 2, which reads:
"Season two finds our heroes adjusting to a new status quo, with the newly empowered werewolves controlling the city and a myriad of unknown threats lurking. Though Klaus and Hayley have vowed to scorch the earth in order to make New Orleans a safe home for their daughter, Hope, they also have inner demons to battle. As she adjusts to life as a hybrid, Hayley experiences crippling rage and depression after saying goodbye to her daughter, and Klaus -- who needs his strength now more than ever -- finds himself regularly weakened as the werewolves use the moonlight rings forged in his blood. Elijah, finding himself isolated from his troubled family, sets out to destroy Francesca (guest star Peta Sergeant) and her traitorous werewolves, connecting with Marcel and his renewed vampire community in the process. Despite the dangerous climate of the city, Cami recommits to her studies and to pursuing the life she wanted before she met Klaus -- but the werewolves in the Quarter aren't the only enemies preventing New Orleans from any semblance of peace.
"Unbeknownst to Klaus and Elijah, their ruthlessly devious parents have returned from the dead. Though their father, Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roché), is controlled by Davina's magic, he remains ever-intent on killing Klaus -- even if he has to go through Davina to do it. Elsewhere, their mother, Esther (guest star Alice Evans), inhabiting the body of a teenage witch, is fueled by a consuming and twisted love for her children as she devises a disturbing plan to reunite her fractured family -- a plan that involves untold torment not only for the Original siblings, but for any and all of their loved ones."
Season 2 of "The Originals" will premiere on Monday, Oct. 6 on The CW.
