Gisele Bundchen's New Under Armour Video: 'I Will What I Want' Ad Campaign Targets Nike, Lululemon in Women's Clothing [Watch]
Super model Gisele Bündchen fights off negativity in the newest ad campaign of sportswear brand Under Armour for their "I will what I want" ad campaign series.
In the ad, people will not see Gisele Bündchen as a super model but instead with her fists wrapped like a boxer, throwing powerful roundhouse kicks and punching a heavy bag like she's training for a martial arts fight, Time reports.
As the ad runs, real-life insults from social media critics were shown on screen. Some were supportive while some questioned why Under Armour chose her as their model. She fights off the negativity by tuning it out and continuing to throw punches.
In a released statement, Bündchen said that the ad is an inspirational initiative.
It becomes a reminder that women can do amazing things despite the criticism and pressure they encounter. She added that the strength to remain focused and tune out negativity helps her do what she wants and gives her the confidence and will to achieve her life goals.
Under Armour had been associated with ultra-masculine commercials but is now aiming to rebrand the company into an entity where empowered women will be able to shop not only for fashionable but also high-endurance gear.
Business analysts say it is a smart move by Under Armour, which only has about 30 percent of its sales come from women. A competitor, Lululemon Athletic, which sells women-focused yoga products, makes about $1.6 million annually. The company is hopeful that it will take some sales of women's sneakers and yoga pants from Nike and Lululemon.
The ad was created by Droga5. Creative director John McKelvey explains that they wanted to show a new side to the Brazilian super model. They wanted her to show the real, raw, unguarded and brave side of every woman who is making a living in the public eye.
