It seems rapper Ja Rule wants audiences to see a different side to the head of Murder Inc. The "I'm Real" hip-hop star is now the future star of his own MTV docu-series, along with his family.

In "Follow the Rules," the Grammy-nominated entertainer along with his wife and children try to show their traditional family lifestyle, sort of. MTV and 51 Minds describe the half-hour as a comedic look at Ja Rule's chaotic household.

Set as executive producers are 51 Minds' Queen Latifah, Jeffrey Atkins and Christian Sarabia along with Irv Gotti. Jessica Zalking, Sara Cohen and Lauren Dorgen from MTV helped develop the series.

"I am truly honored and excited to be partnering with MTV and 51 Minds," Ja Rule said in a statement. "Family tradition will never be the same, bitch!"

The President of MTV Programming Susanne Daniels said, "Ja Rule is the modern day reality rap star version of Bill Cosby's role from 'The Cosby Show.' He embraces a unique parenting style with his teenage kids that feels fresh and funny. ... We're excited to be in business with him and his delightful family."

The family unit under Ja Rule's roof is multi-generational. He and his wife, Aisha, live with their three kids as well as his mother and mother-in-law. He has two teenage sons, Jeffery Jr. and Jordan, and his eldest daughter Brittney is visiting home during her sophomore year of college.

Ja Rule seemed pleased with the response to the announcement, retweeting several fans' messages of congratulations and excitement.

No word on when the unscripted series will premiere yet, but a sneak peek of "Follow the Rules" can be seen below.
