Serena Williams will go up against Ekaterina Makarova, and Caroline Wozniacki will collide with Shuai Peng in the semifinals of the 2014 U.S. Open women's tennis tournament on Friday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Williams, who has not dropped a set in her first five matches, is a heavy favorite to win the title this year, but the 17-time Grand Slam champion reiterated that there is no room for complacency at this stage of the tournament.

Makarova, who scored a straight-set win against Victoria Azarenka to book a spot in the final four, defeated Williams in the 2012 Australian Open, and the top-seeded player of the tournament knows that her Russian foe can do it again on Friday.

But when asked if she is worried heading into their showdown, considering the fact that she will be going up against a lefty, Williams expressed confidence about her chances of winning.

"I have played two lefties already and I often practice with Varvara [Lepchenko]," Williams said via U.S. Open 2014 website. "She's a lefty. I think that's been good for me, so I'm ready for the lefty. I think it will be a good match. She's beaten me before. I am obviously going to go in there and just try to do the best I can."

Makarova, who will be playing in her first Grand Slam semifinals, has also been playing well in the tournament. Like Williams, the 26-year-old Russian, who eliminated seventh-seed Eugenie Bouchard in the fourth round, has yet to lose a set in the tournament.

In the other semis match, Peng will look to extend her impressive run at Flushing Meadows in her upcoming showdown with Wozniacki, which will be her first Grand Slam semifinal appearance.

The unseeded 28-year-old Chinese defeated fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round, edged 28th-seeded Roberta Vinci in the third and took down 14th-seeded Lucie Safarova in the fourth round.

The Peng-Wozniacki showdown will start past 1:45 p.m. EST, which will be followed by the Williams-Makarova match. Complete Day 12 schedule is available on this link.

The matches will be shown live on ESPN and Tennis, and through online streaming via U.S. Open Live, Tennis Channel Live, WatchESPN and CBSSports.
