'True Detective' Season 2 Cast: Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Moss Look to Join 'Fast and Furious' Director Justin Lin on Set of HBO Drama Series
Things are looking up for the second season of the HBO drama series "True Detective." Nic Pizzolatto will still be writing the story for Season 2, although the other key players are likely to all be new. According to Screen Rant, the big news is that Justin Lin, the director of four installments of the "Fast and Furious" franchise is in talks to direct at least the first two episodes of "True Detective" before he starts production on "Bourne 5" next year.
However, all things related to "True Detective" Season 2 are kept under wraps with HBO refusing to issue any comment. There is still no confirmation on the final cast members. It seems that Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn are penciled in with their names having been added to the list of actors on the show's IMDB page. They are still searching for an actress to play the female detective, and there's also talk that the second season will be helmed by three or four directors.
As rumored earlier, the setting for Season 2 "True Detective" is in California with the investigation of the murder of a corrupt city mayor as the focus for the season. It seems the production is going for a new look with the shift of the story to California. The director switch is a bit surprising since Cary Fukunaga, who directed all the episodes for Season 1, received an Emmy recently for his work on the show. However, he now has feature commitments but will still remain as an executive producer for the second season of the show.
Elisabeth Moss has also been listed as one of the cast members. There might be other candidates for the female part, but she and Rachel McAdams are considered to be the front-runners, according to Variety. Rachel McAdams' acting level is certainly at par with everyone else that is lined up to star in the second season.
