Amidst the couple's dating rumors, 5 Seconds of Summer's Ashton Irwin clarified his relationship status with Kendall Jenner.

The drummer of the Australian pop rock band recently denied that he is dating the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star.

"We're not dating," he told The Sun. "I met her in New York with our team, and we just hung out and had a drink. We were walking down the road -- there was a whole group of us. And I didn't even get in that taxi."

Irwin then admitted that he has a crush on Jenner.

"Hell yeah, she is very attractive, don't get me wrong," he said. "I'm kind of awkward, though, I think the most conversation we had was like, 'Hello, I'm Ashton.'"

The speculations of the pair dating actually sparked last month, when a photo of the reality star getting into a taxi with the "Amnesia" singer circulated all over Twitter.

At the time, a source revealed to The Mirror, "[Kendall]'s perfectly entitled to party with the 5 Seonds of Summer boys without [Harry Styles], so she and her friend Hailey went along to visit them in their hotel as they have mutual friends.

In addition, Kendall Jenner and Ashton Irwin already had a connection at the Billboard Music Awards. The model was chosen to introduce 5 Seconds of Summer's performance of "She Looks So Perfect," during which she reportedly almost said One Direction's name instead.  

"She and Ashton seemed to really hit it off, though they were also hanging out with Ashton's bandmate, Calum Hood, and some of their team. They had some drinks and decided to continue the party later on," the source said. "There was definitely chemistry between Kendall and Ashton. They certainly make an attractive couple -- despite the complicated back story."
