Marvel Avengers 2 'Age of Ultron' Characters: Robert Downey Jr. Wants Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow to Get Their Own Movie Franchises
While Robert Downey Jr. has not yet expressed his intentions in committing to extending his role as the Iron Man, he is quite open with sharing his thoughts on the roles of the rest of the Avengers.
Downey said that he would like to see more standalone films of the other Marvel superheroes, specifically the "Hulk" as played by Mark Ruffalo and "Hawkeye" by Jeremy Renner, FOX News reports.
Additionally, he also expressed how he found an interest in the major female characters of Marvel, especially after "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the latest "Iron Man" where Gwyneth Paltrow's role as Pepper became more substantial.
Finally, Robert Downey Jr. shared how he would like to see a solo "Black Widow" film with Scarlett Johansson, quipping, "Doesn't Scarlett deserve a break?"
Marvel's famous secret agent portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, the Black Widow, has increasingly become a key player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since she first appeared as Natasha Romanoff in 2010. She first helped S.H.I.E.L.D. in bringing Tony Stark closer to the idea of joining the Avengers in "Iron Man 2," then fought with the mightiest heroes of Earth in "The Avengers" before becoming the trusted confidant of Steve Rogers in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Pretty soon, Johansson will be reprising her role in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which is set to come out in theaters next year.
A Black Widow standalone has actually been an idea Marvel has been toying with, and many fans have been waiting for. But the actress might just be a little preoccupied with the upcoming birth of her baby.
Downey Jr. does believe that everyone does indeed deserve a franchise. But for now, Iron Man, Black Widow and the Avengers with its new characters are set to appear once again on May 1, 2015, in the next installment of "The Avengers" franchise.
