Molly Glynn Death: NBC 'Chicago Fire' Actress Dies After Being Hit By Tree
Widely known for her role on NBC's "Chicago Fire," actress Molly Glynn died from being struck by a falling tree while riding her bike with her husband, Joe Foust. Glynn was riding with Foust in Erickson Woods in Chicago Friday when a storm quickly started around 3 p.m. in the afternoon.
The 46-year-old shouted to her husband that they should get under some sort of cover moments before a tree uprooted and smashed into her and her bicycle, according to Foust. He said he was riding ahead of Glynn, heard her shout and turned around and saw the whole spectacle.
He rushed his wife, who had been wearing her bike helmet, to Evanston NorthShore Hospital. Foust shared updates Friday night via his Facebook page.
"Friends, this is the darkest day of my life," he wrote. "Things will never be the same. Molly got hit by a falling tree while we were biking. At hospital now. Prognosis is grim."
She died on Saturday from her injuries. Foust, a fellow actor, posted another heartbreaking message on his Facebook account along with photos of the couple together.
"I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. She's gone," he said.
Glynn had played an emergency room doctor in several episodes of the NBC drama "Chicago Fire" and was also a veteran stage actress.
"Molly was a marvelous actress and a completely warm hearted and generous human being. She had grace, sophistication and a sparkling, sexy, sassy stage presence," Michael Halberstam, the artistic director at Chicago's Writers Theatre, said to CBS. "She could transform from a princess to a flower girl in the twinkling of an eye. She was a loving mother and wife, and everyone who met her fell in love with her."
Foust and Glynn have two children together, and close friends have established a Give Forward campaign to raise funds for her family. The Hollywood Reporter noted that over $110,000 had been raised of the $125,000 goal.
