On Sunday, Sept. 7, "Orange Is the New Black" actress Dascha Polanco debuted her new gray and purple ombre hairdo on Instagram.

"Umm...I'm just saying tho #nyfw #hitmypart," Polanco captioned an Instagram photo of herself on the way to a New York Fashion Week event.

Following the surprising debut of her new hair color and style, Polanco's fans took to Instagram to gush over the actress' new look.

"U look amazing so proud to see Dominican women making it in this hard life society, " Instagram user @sweetest_aquarian_noenoe wrote.

Another Instagram user, @kittyrapunzuel781, wrote, "omg I wanted to do this. You pulled it offfff. You look banging."

Media outlets such as E! News and The Huffington Post also praised Polanco -- who is naturally a brunette -- for her new colorful hairstyle.

"The gorgeous actress's bold new look features gray coloring at the roots with purple tips. Polanco's stunning skin tone compliments her chic dye job perfectly (it's like she was meant to have this hair color her whole life!)," an E! News rep wrote.

The Huffington Post writer commented, "Polanco looks amazing, and we can't wait to see what fierce ensemble the star breaks out next."

So what sparked Polanco's desire to change her look?

Well, during a recent interview with Latina Magazine, the Dominican beauty revealed that she enjoys taking risks with her look.

"You know, I like to take risks and play with my hair. It's the time to do it, so why not?," Polanco revealed.

Polanco then took to Instagram later on Tuesday to thank her fans, the media outlets, her hair stylist and her glam squad for transforming her into a new, vivacious look.
