Televisa to Cut Ties With Telenovela Star José Alberto Castro Over Fraud, Source Says
José Alberto Castro has given life to one of Televisa's current popular telenovelas, but Televisa is rumored to have cut ties with the producer.
A source alleges that Televisa has gotten sick of El Güero's multiple problems, specifically addiction and bad management. The company has supposedly audited his work and also discovered fraud.
As of yet, Televisa has not confirmed or denied the rumors.
Castro has been working for Televisa for 26 years. In that time, he has made telenovelas like "Serafin," "Teresa" and "Corona de Lagrimas." He even met ex-girlfriend Angelique Boyer on one of his telenovelas.
If the rumors turn out to be true, then 2014 would definitely be a rough year for Castro.
His relationship with Boyer ended earlier in the year, and he also had knee problems. It seemed the director was bouncing back and was even 40 pounds lighter when he and the cast presented "La Malquerida."
"I had a skiing accident during my vacation in December. Two months ago, I got an operation on my knee, which I had already hurt playing American football," he said. "The doctor recommended that I lose weight so that I could take pressure off my knees."
Soon the director may have another star in his family.
His daughter, Sofia Castro, is looking to become a serious actress, notes Vanguardia.
She admires Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lawrence.
"They are very versatile actresses," she said.
When asked if she'd like to be like either woman, Sofia responded by saying that she'd like to be better than them.
"I'm going to work hard to get to the level that I want," she said. "I've always been bigger than the age I am."
Sofia explained that the divorce of her parents, Castro and Angelica Rivera, forced her to mature quickly.
