Kanye West 'Yeezus' Tour Hospital Incident: Rapper Reportedly Suffers Migraine, Rushed to Hospital
Kanye West was reportedly rushed to hospital on Wednesday, just hours before performing at his final concert during the Australian leg of his ongoing "Yeezus" world tour.
An eyewitness named Loraine Terry claimed that the Chicago emcee was brought in through the back entrance of Melbourne's Epworth Hospital in Richmond on Wednesday for an emergency MRI. He had one side of his face covered and surrounded by high security.
"My daughter was having an MRI. Shortly after it began, security burst in and cleared the area," she told Woman's Day. "Everyone was moved out of the waiting and consulting rooms. We were the only ones left apart from doctors and nurses -- we couldn't leave as the MRI wasn't finished."
"Everyone was massively panicked, and they were very nervous about making sure the area was completely clear," she added. "At one stage, one of his security men saw my daughter, who was lying on the MRI machine, turn her head and he insisted she had to go. We weren't even properly finished."
Hospital Spokeswoman Colleen Coghlan also said: "Yesterday afternoon we had 50 people in our emergency department. All were treated with respect and according to the severity of their symptoms."
Doctors were initially concerned about West possibly having a seizure, however TMZ later reported that he was just suffering from an "intense" migraine, not a seizure. The "Mercy" hitmaker was eventually released and able to perform later in the day at Rod Laver Arena after doctors determined that his symptoms were not serious.
"Kanye went on stage last night in Melbourne as scheduled," a Live Nation spokeswoman said. "The tour continues at Sydney's Qantas Credit Union Arena tomorrow and Saturday, before concluding in Brisbane on Monday night."
