In light of Ray Rice's termination from the NFL, a number of Baltimore Ravens fans were spotted wearing Rice jerseys at Thursday night's game between the Ravens and Steelers.

On Monday, the 27-year-old running back was dropped from his team after TMZ published video footage of him knocking his wife unconscious and then callously dragging her motionless body out of a hotel elevator.

Back in March, Rice was arrested and indicted for third-degree aggravated assault relating to the same incident where he punched his then-fiancée in the face on Feb. 15 at an Atlantic City casino. The couple subsequently married on March 28.

Despite the circumstances surrounding Rice's cut from the Ravens, both male and female fans decided to show their support by wearing his jersey.

"I'm making a statement," one fan, named Kathy, told Fox Sports. "I don't believe in domestic violence, but I will say: Any woman who can hit a man, a man shouldn't have to sit there and take the abuse. The abuse goes both ways. As a woman, she shouldn't have hit him. If I hit you, I would expect you to hit me back. And that's just how that goes."

Tina Gavin, a season ticket owner and a grandmother, also said she choose to wear her Rice jersey to show her support.

"I think what he did was really bad, really bad. ... It just seems that from everything I've seen up to this point, he seems to be a genuinely decent human being. That screwed up big time. Who hasn't screwed up?" she said. "He should have been punished six games from the beginning and then when they saw the film, maybe they wouldn't have been appalled because they would have punished him adequately. According to (Ravens gneral manager) Ozzie Newsome, he told them what happened. Now they see it, and it's worse? They knew what happened in the elevator. And now you're going to pretend he doesn't exist?"

"Well, he's an upstanding citizen here in Baltimore, he's done a lot for the community and the reality is, he made a mistake he admitted it -- both him and his wife -- and they were punished for it," another fan said. "And he's done everything they've asked him to do."

However, other fans weren't as forgiving.

CBS New York reported that 65-Year-Old Paul Kilduff used duct tape to cover the letters "Ray R" on the back of his faded shirt, so that it read "Be Nice" instead of "Ray Rice."

Another woman said that Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti should have acted sooner in terminating Rice's contract.

"He's a coward," Stephanie Wright, 43, said. "He was just scared of public opinion so that's why he just terminated (Rice). ... You should be held accountable. If he was a policeman or a firefighter, he would have lost his job immediately."
