Mexican Independence Day: How Sebastián Rulli, Angelique Boyer, Eiza Gonzalez & Others Celebrated [Photos]
On Sept. 16, 1810, the Grito de Dolores began.
The event marked the declaration of the Mexican War of Independence and, since 1825, the date has been known as the Mexican Independence Day. Mexican celebrities have taken to their social media accounts to celebrate the day.
Sebastián Rulli, who is not Mexican but has lived in the country for more than a decade, wrote a simple message on Twitter. "And today all of us yell 'VIVA MEXICO,'" he said.

She's not the only one who dressed the part. Belinda wore one for the first time to perform.
"For the first time, I will wear a charro suit on stage!" she said. "Viva Mexico!!"
Someone shared a patriotic picture of Angelique Boyer, and the actress, who has been spending some time in Europe, responded by saying how much she missed being home.
"I miss my Mexico, land of my heart," she said.
Eiza Gonzalez may also not be at home, but she still has Mexico on her mind.
"Wow all the way to LA arrived my favorite tequila," she said. "To celebrate! #VivaMexico!"
Dulce Maria posted a picture of herself performing with her Mexican flag by her side. Alejandra Guzman shared a picture of 80,000 people celebrating the event together. Thalia dedicated a few posts on Instagram to Mexico, and in one, she posted a video of herself and her sister getting ready for the festivities to start. In another, she wore an elegant red dress.
"Love to the Mexican," she said. "Good and marvelous day, compatriots."
Chiquis Rivera also wore colors to represent Mexico. She wore a green dress and a red flower in her hair.
