Jailbreak iOS 7.1 Pangu, Untethered Cydia Tweaks & Evad3rs Download News: Last Chance to Upgrade?
Apple has released iOS 8 for mobile devices today, but a jailbreak may take some months to reach the public. In the meantime, upgrading to the latest iOS 7 remains the best option.
The latest version, iOS 7.1.2 has a jailbreak, but it may be the last chance to jailbreak it.
That is why many tech and jailbreaking sites are encouraging users to, if they can, upgrade to iOS 7.1.2 and jailbreak from there.
The reason being that, if iOS devices are not jailbroken, they will result in being "locked," according to Gotta Be Mobile.
Users will not be able to restore their devices to iOS 7.1.2 through iTunes, if needed, but instead they will be forced to upgrade to the iOS 8, iClarified reported. For jailbreakers, this means losing a jailbreak.
While iOS 7.1.2 comes with bug fixes and performance improvements, including a much better battery life and security fixes that make the devices safer against hackers, Apple will stop signing for it after today, Gotta Be Mobile reported.
And while there have been reports lately of an iOS 8 jailbreak, some believe it to be fake.
KpopStarz reported that a recent Reddit poster -- who showed a screenshot of the Pangu jailbreak tool -- claims that the jailbreak worked.
But Pangu creators Evad3rs, known for the iOS 7 jailbreak amongst others, have not revealed any information about their own iOS 8 jailbreak.
In fact, the only discussion of an iOS 8 jailbreak from Evad3rs has been to ask users about what they think the best price for an iOS 8 jailbreak would be, according to KpopStarz.
The Reddit user w0rldello claimed to have used the existing jailbreak for iOS 7 to figure out the reported iOS 8 untethered jailbreak.
The unpatched vulnerabilities in iOS 8 are what the Reddit user said they used to jailbreak the device, since older Pangu version exploits have already been patched by Apple.
