Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Release Date, Cast & Plot News: What Does New Synopsis Reveal About Movie?
With the fall movie season getting off to a solid start, studios are beginning to market their upcoming summer movies in order to create massive buzz.
One of the biggest films that is likely to become the number one film of the year is "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." The reason why is because Marvel has thrived over the past few years with their superhero movies, and this year, "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The Winter Solider" became the highest grossing films of the year.
After the studio's success, Marvel has started to tease audiences by releasing the official synopsis to "Age of Ultron."
Iron Man Creates Ultron?
The new synopsis reveals that the character of Tony Stark, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program. However, he is unsuccessful and the Avengers re-team to save the world. From the looks of it, Stark seems like he is responsible for the emergence of the villainous Ultron.
Perhaps this development may connect to the last "Iron Man" movie or perhaps it could potentially connect to Sam Rockwell's character Justin Hammer. In "Iron Man 2," Hammer was creating a number of programs that were extremely dangerous, but were never followed through in the third installment.
As audiences expected, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye will appear in the movie and they will all fight to put the planet in balance.
Will Ant-Man Appear in Avengers 2?
It was previously announced that Ultron will be villain, and in the synopsis Marvel revealed that Ultron is "hell bent on destroying human civilization." The synopsis however, did not reveal who created Ultron.
In the comics, Hank Pym, also known as Ant-Man, is credited as the creator of Ultron. Many wonder whether the character will appear in a cameo or at the end of the credits.
Marvel is developing an Ant-Man movie that will be coming out next year. As a result, it could be interesting if the two movies connect with one another.
Nick Fury, Scarlet Witch and Vision Among Confirmed Characters in Movie
The synopsis also revealed that Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson and Agent Maria Hill from S.H.I.E.L.D., played by Colbie Smulders, will return to help the Avengers. One of the questions fans will definitely have is if S.H.I.E.L.D. will be revived, especially since it was dissolved at the end of "Winter Soldier." In Marvel's "Agents of Shield," the TV tie-in to the Marvel cinematic universe entering its second season on Sept. 23, it appears that S.H.I.E.L.D. exists in some smaller, stripped-down capacity. But what version, if any, of the world peacekeeping task force will make the movie is still a mystery.
One of the most surprising reveals in the synopsis is that the Avengers will fight against Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, and Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver.
At the end credits of "Winter Soldier," Baron Wolfgang von Strucker had the two character locked up and as secret weapons. In the comic books, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are regular members of the Avengers; however, they also have opposed the heroic X-Men as the children of the mutant supervillain Magneto. It has not been revealed whether the two characters will eventually join the team, but it will be interesting to see them fight against the rest of the team.
Another big surprise in the synopsis is the appearance of robotic hero Vision. According to the summary, the Avengers will also have to face off against him. The synopsis reveals that Vision will be played by Paul Bettany, who plays the voice of Tony Stark's A.I. butler J.A.R.V.I.S.--which means that J.A.R.V.I.S. may be given new life and a physical form.
The original Avengers movie was released in 2012 and became the biggest movie of the year. The movie holds the record for the highest opening; it opened with $207 million and went on to gross $623 million. It also grossed $1.5 billion worldwide and was later nominated for an Oscar.
