Grand Theft Auto 5 Release Date & News Update: Amazon Delivers Pre-Ordered Games Too Early
Grand Theft Auto 5, the hotly anticipated action-adventure video game, has reportedly been released too early by Amazon. The release date is slated for September 17, but some customers have already received their pre-ordered set over the weekend, according to Metro.
Rockstar Games, publisher of GTA 5, has reportedly launched an investigation into the early arrival of the game to customers who pre-ordered from online retailer Amazon. A representative from the company told Games Industry International that they are looking into the matter, saying that "We are in the process of investigating early 'sales' to determine how and why that is occurring," as reported by Polygon.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 5 began in May this year, according to Rockstar Games. Customers who pre-ordered "The Grand Theft Auto V Special Edition" get a set that includes the Collectible SteelBook with Exclusive Artwork, the Blueprint Map, the Special Ability Boost, the Stunt Plane Trials, Bonus Outfits, Tattoos and additional weapons. Meanwhile, The Grand Theft Auto V Collector's Edition includes the Special edition set plus the Grand Theft Auto V Security Deposit Bag with Logo Key, the Grand Theft Auto V New Era 9FIFTYTM Snapback Cap, Custom Characters for Grand Theft Auto Online, Unique Vehicles and Garage Property. The Special Edition costs $79.99, while the Collector's Edition retails for $149.99.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is reportedly aiming for the £1billion sales mark, and as far as Amazon is concerned, the units for distribution from their end are already sold out. Predicted to be the biggest video game sale of the year, it looks like GTA 5 is indeed surpassing the mark. Grand Auto Theft is a favourite among gamers for the incredible attention to detail and perfection, according to the gaming blog Destructoid.
