Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck reiterated that they are not planning to trade Rajon Rondo, saying that the superstar point guard also wants to stay with the team.

In a recent interview, Grousbeck said that he is unsure how coachable Rondo is based from his conversation with former Celtics coach Doc Rivers, but he insisted that he wants the All-Star guard to stay as one of the cornerstones of their franchise.

Rondo is expected to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, and several teams have already expressed intention to acquire him, but Grousbeck reiterated that he will make sure that the 28-year-old will stay in Boston.

"It's my goal to keep Rondo here," Grousbeck said via ESPN. "I think we all want that. And I actually honestly think -- he should speak for himself -- I think Rajon wants to stay, or would be very happy to stay. And we'll see how this season goes, and how the negotiations go, but he's proud to be a Celtic. I know that."

Most NBA analysts are convinced, though, that the Celtics will eventually consider trading Rondo, especially if he becomes impatient with the Celtics' rebuilding process.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge isn't sure about whether or not Rondo will eventually ask for a change of scenery, but he reiterated that the former Kentucky standout told him about his desire to continue playing in Boston.

"I think that's a question that we'll probably have to address at least halfway through the season if not at the end of the season," Ainge said. "But right now Rondo has indicated to me that he wants to stay in Boston and he loves it here and he knows who his teammates are and he loves his teammates."

Rondo was limited to 30 games last season after recovering from an ACL injury, but Ainge is confident that the eight-year veteran will have the best of year of his NBA career next season.

"I expect the best year of his career," Ainge said via Boston Globe. "He's worked really hard this summer and I think Rondo's going to have the best year of his life. That's what I expect. He's just a year removed from the injury. He's growing all the time. He's improving, he's maturing as a leader."
