Nokia Lumia 1520 Release Date, Price and Features: Phablet to be Launched on October 22
The 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet is rumored to be making a special appearance at Nokia's event this October 22.
Nokia announced the controversial date through their Twitter account along with a picture of two people skiing in sand dunes. Rumors are saying that the event might be held somewhere tropical like Abu Dhabi.
The tweet read: "At Nokia, we never stop innovating. More to share on October 22. #Nokia #innovationreinvented"
Although there were no further announcements made as to what will truly take place on the said date, several reports are saying that October 22 could very well be the release date for the phablet.
Nokia Lumia 1520 was initially expected to be released September 26 but reports say it is most likely to be delayed. One of the reasons for this is Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's device and services division. The division was sold for $7.2 billion.
The deal also called for Stephen Elop, Nokia's Chief Executive, to step down and become the Executive Vice President of the device and services division of the company.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to join the growing number of devices in the phablet industry at 6 inches. It will reportedly have a 1080p screen, making it the sharpest among all Windows Phone devices. It will also be powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, says CNET.
The 6-inch phablet will come with a polycarbonate body and a 20-megapixel camera with PureView technology (OIS) and a ZEISS lens to match. Live Side reports that the device will come in red, yellow, black and white colors.
According to WP Central, the Nokia Lumia 1520 will also be coming to AT&T by November for $699, off contract. Specifically, the device will be available to users by November 8 in four colors.
An on-contract price has not yet been confirmed but WP Central hints on a $299 price point for the device, considering its large screen and high end technology.
