Super Bowl 2014 Halftime Show - Bruno Mars News Update And Other Twitter Reactions
After the official NFL announcement that Bruno Mars will be the one to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, more frowns were present than the positive comments. Now a petition is going viral for US heavy metal band Gwar to play instead of the 'Treasure' singer.
So far, 18,000 signatures have pledged support to the campaign to express their highest hopes on for the Virginia group to land highly deemed performance slot. The rock band has just released their 13th studio album entitled Battle Maximus on Monday, NME.com reports. During the 2013 Super Half Time performance, about 110 million watched Beyonce with other popular artists who once took the slot like Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Madonna among others.
According to Jeff Cantrell, the founder of the signature campaign to eradicate Bruno Mars for the Half Time show, he together with other NFL fans want to see something different which they all believe the band Gwar can alone provide. "We don't want another year of sitting around talking through a muted, boring NFL Super Bowl halftime show," he said.
The post featured at the webzine MetalSucks.com added that if the NFL wants more advertisers and more viewers, then the Gwar can certainly ace the performance, giving emphasis with the members of the band as fans of the sport as well.
The said petition though was made after Bruno Mars was confirmed to play for half time breaks of the 2014 event. The singer even tweeted about and described the opportunity as such an honor.
The Bruno Mars Super Bowl XLVIV half time performance will be held at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey by February 2, 2014. The Super Bowl XLIX will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium by February 1, 2015.
