Klay Thompson was almost traded this offseason before the Golden State Warriors eventually decided to keep him, but his future with the team is still left hanging in the balance.

Thompson, who is coming off an impressive stint with Team USA in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, could become a restricted free agent next summer if no extension is signed until Oct. 31.

In an interview with SF Gate, Thompson said that he is not worrying about his contract situation with the Warriors, saying that he will just let his agent Bill Duffy handle the negotiation and he'll just do his job on the hardcourt.

"I just kind of take it day by day and stay patient," Thompson said. "I let Bill and the front office sort it out. I know that if I just keep my mind on hoops and staying healthy, everything else will take care of itself."

The Warriors reportedly seriously considered trading Thompson to the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier in the offseason to acquire All-Star power forward Kevin Love. The team decided to keep Thompson, though, which led to the trade that sent Love to Cleveland Cavaliers instead.

Previous reports indicated that the Thompson was pissed when the Warriors considered trading him, but the 24-year-old guard refuted reports, reiterating that he is happy to stay.

"I'm so happy to be back in the Bay," Thompson said via Contra Costa Times. "All I know is I'm still here, and I've got a Warriors jersey on, and I'm ecstatic."

Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is also sure that Thompson was not bothered at all by the trade rumors about him earlier in the offseason, saying that the former Washington State standout handled the situation very well.

"Somebody said he was 'pissed' off about the trade rumors, and he showed me the link. He started laughing, like, 'What are they talking about?'" Curry said of Thompson. "He knows the game and what could happen every offseason. He handles it well. I don't think it affected him with Team USA, and I don't think it will affect him going into our season."

Thompson, the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, had the best year of his young career last season when he averaged 18.4 points to go along with 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
