Fashion Police Cast & Episodes Update 2014: Who Will Replace Joan Rivers?
With the recent passing of host and comedy icon Joan Rivers, E! Network's "Fashion Police" future seems uncertain. Other hosts for the entertainment network are squashing rumors about potential replacements while the show is looking for someone else to sit on the panel.
Host for both "Fashion Police" and "E! News," Giuliana Rancic told People that the seat may be filled soon, but that fans shouldn't worry about the individual filling Rivers' shoes.
"It's not about replacing Joan Rivers -- no one can replace Joan Rivers. Ever," she said. "It's more about the show just being a great show and a fun show."
After Rivers' passing on Sept. 4 at the age of 81, E! aired a special episode of "Fashion Police" featuring Joan's daughter, Melissa. Rancic said the show helped those fans and colleagues who loved Rivers to grieve.
"I think that the tribute show was very therapeutic for all of us, including the producers -- even the viewers," she said. "Kelly [Osbourne], George [Kotsiopoulos], myself, we're all very close, we're always there for each other, and it's easier to not have to go through something like that alone, but we obviously think about and comfort Melissa the most because she lost her mom, her best friend."
Rancic said the cast is still not sure who will join them when "Fashion Police" returns in January. Rumors are floating on the Internet that comedian Kathy Griffin and NeNe Leakes are top choices to add to the mix.
"I haven't even thought about it, and I know there are a lot of rumors going around, but they're really all rumors right now," the host explained. "No decisions have been made, not to say they won't be made soon, but no decisions have been made right now. I don't know, I honestly don't. All I know is that whatever the executives decide, I'm sure it will be the best decision."
