Kate Winslet: Actress Opens up About Relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio
Marie Claire's latest cover girl for its November issue is Kate Winslet. In the issue which is available now, the Academy award winning actress opens up about her strictly platonic relationship with her "Titanic" co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Despite having immense romantic chemistry in the movie "Titanic," Winslet reveals that the two shared no romance in real life. E! News even reports that DiCaprio gave Winslet away on her wedding day to Ned Rocknroll in 2012.
Rather than date each other, Winslet explains that she and DiCaprio opted to lean on each other while filming "Titanic" at a very young age. She also explains that because she was a bit of a tom-boy back then, DiCaprio never took a romantic liking to her.
"It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did," Winslet revealed. "He always saw me as one of the boys; I've never really been a girly-girl. We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system.'"
In addition to talking about her friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio, Winslet also shared her opinion on being a working mother in Hollywood.
Although she admits that the emotional transition between work and family is often difficult as a Hollywood actress, she still disagrees with actresses who complain that they struggle with the "logistics" of working on set and being a mother.
"We've heard a lot from actresses recently about how difficult it is. But we should never be saying that it's difficult because we are so bloody lucky. It's just not an ok thing to share. It's always a juggle, but isn't it for every working mother?" she explained.
