'Book of Life' Movie Soundtrack Release Date & Trailer Songs: Album Features Voices of Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna & Plácido Domingo
"The Book of Life" creators are asking their fans, "Quieres bailar?" (Do you want to dance?) as they have released the highly anticipated animated film's soundtrack, which is available on iTunes and Amazon.
The soundtrack features the voices of Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana and Diego Luna. There is also an impressive line-up of artists, including the legendary Plácido Domingo, Café Tacvba and Gustavo Santaolalla, an Argentine musician, film composer and producer and a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Original Score for two consecutive years, for "Brokeback Mountain" (2005) and "Babel" (2006).
Also on the album are Grammy Award-winners La Santa Cecila, hip-hop artist Biz Markie and actor, voice actor and comedian Cheech Marin (star of the "Cheech & Chong" movies) round out the soundtrack.
Other highlights on "The Book of Life" soundtrack include Domingo's version of "Cielito Lindo," Luna's spin on Radiohead's "Creep" and Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love with You," and a twist on the old-school hip-hop favorite, "You Got What I Need," by Biz Markie and Cheech Marin.
It also has a "fresh take on pop and contemporary music favorites," such Mumford & Sons and Us the Duo.

"The Book of Life" is produced by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by Jorge Gutierrez. It highlights the journey of Manolo (Luna), a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. The film is rich with highly artistic and authentic graphics and characters that honor the colorful nature and tradition of Día de los Muertos.
