'Bones' Season 10 Episode 3 Spoilers: Booth, Brennan Investigate Sex Dungeon in 'The Purging of the Pundit'
Although the first two episodes of "Bones" has left TV fans in utter shock and grief over the sudden death of the beloved Dr. Lance Sweets, viewers can look forward to an all-new episode that will lighten the mood with tongue-in-cheek humor.
Season 10 of "Bones" kicked off with a shocking twist when Sweets died after being beaten to death by a trained assassin working to keep the FBI's conspiracy under wraps.
Last week's episode was also very somber as viewers said their final goodbye to the instrumental psychologist who was laid to rest in a befitting and emotional ceremony. The Jeffersonian team also solved the conspiracy that led to Sweets' untimely death, while the new kid on the block, Agent James Aubrey, stepped up in lieu of Sweet's exit, reports TVLine.
In an interview with E! News, executive producer Stephen Nathan shared insight about Sweets' funeral service.
"We wanted to send him off in a way that honored his memory and showed how much our characters have changed, grown because of their contact with Sweets," Nathan said of the final scene. "We really wanted to show that and show what this family is made of and how they pull together in the most horrible of circumstances and get through."
He added, "These characters ebb and flow, relationships ebb and flow, surprises pop up when we least expect them and that's what life is like. If life were predictable and everybody knew what was going to happen and shielded themselves from those painful moments it would be a sad life ... It's out of tragedy that great things come and it's out of great joy that we experience the pain of loss and sorrow. All I can say is this is what makes the show still feel alive ten years later," reports Zap2It.
Fortunately, the EP revealed that there won't be any more tragic deaths this season. Instead, the only characters who will die will either be really bad people or the victims in different cases, he said.
Nathan also hinted that the show will get back to its fun undertone.
"Bones is not going to turn into a dark show where they are dealing with these demons all of the time," he confirmed. "We are going to be back on our traditional Bones footing very quickly."
In the upcoming episode, titled "The Purging of the Pundit," the long running series will take a turn in a more light-hearted direction asBooth and Brennan investigate the death of a conservative radio host with a freaky sex life.
In a sneak peek video, published on E! News, Booth and Brennan are seen inspecting a sex dungeon filled with whips, chains and nipple clamps. Of course, they can't help but to make a few tongue-in-cheeks jokes.
Later on in the season, Nathan teased that fans can also expect to also see Sweets' and Daisy's child in a future episode.
"I don't think people who have grown close to her and really love her in their own way over these past five, six years, not going to let her they're not going to send her out in the world alone. When this baby is born, this baby will be cared for," he said.
The show runner also warned that a very evil character will be featured on the show.
"I can safely say that there is going to be something else lurking out there. I don't think the world ever exists with simple murders...I think we need something a little more evil. It might be in the second half of the year. We'll be getting involved in another case where there's someone who's not nice, not a good person."
Nathan also dropped a few spoilers about what's to come in the show's 200th episode, telling E! News "It will be an episode unlike any we've ever done before. We wanted to give a little gift to the fans...give them a little gift showing our characters in situation they would never normally find ourselves in and just see our characters from a different perspective. We're going to have as many people who have crossed our paths as we possibly can," Nathan teased, adding, "There are limitations to that, of course."
According to CarterMatt.com, Fox released the synopsis for "The Purging of the Pundit," which states:
"With the help of "squintern" Rodolfo Fuentes (guest star Ignacio Serricchio), the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a controversial conservative radio host whose remains were found in a storm drain. Meanwhile, Special Agent James Aubrey (guest star John Boyd) is desperate to gain the trust of Booth, and Brennan is worried about Booth's psychological well-being after recent events."
