Paula Patton & Robin Thicke Divorce Update: 'Blurred Lines' Singer's Estranged Wife Files for Divorce
Robin Thicke could not win her back. Actress Paula Patton, the "Blurred Lines" singer's estranged wife, has filed for divorce, ending their years-long marriage. However, their divorce may be an amicable one.
Patton, 38, filed for divorce after eight years of marriage, after Thicke's infidelity came to light, according to the New York Daily News. Following an eight-month separation, in which Thicke tried to win back his wife, Patton decided to call it quits, citing "irreconcilable differences" in her divorce filing.
The actress, who has starred in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and "Precious," also filed for joint physical and legal custody of the couple's 4-year-old son, Julian Fuego. However, she did not ask for spousal support.
"(It's) all very peaceful," a source told the New York Daily News. The divorce seems amicable enough that Patton filed for divorce pro per or without an attorney. Yet, the couple's properties are still at stake.
According to People magazine, Patton filed for divorce on Oct. 3. The couple married in 2005; however, Thicke first met Patton when he was 14 years old. They announced their separation back in February following rumors that Thicke had cheated on his wife.
"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the couple told People at the time.
Thicke, 37, then spent months trying to win her back with public apologies and named his seventh album "Paula" in July. However, the album flopped, selling around 24,000 copies by August.
The singer's troubles do not end there. A tumultuous year for Thicke, the divorce is the latest in a series of failures for the singer. In April, he admitted in a deposition that he had been abusing drugs and alcohol throughout 2013 and falsely claimed credit for "Blurred Lines," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
He also said, "I told my wife the truth. That's why she left me."
