United States will face Ecuador in an international friendly match on Friday at the Rentschler Field in Connecticut, which will be Landon Donovan's farewell match for the U.S. men's national soccer team.

Donovan, who was left out of the U.S. squad that competed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, recently announced his retirement, but the U.S. Soccer Federation made sure that he will have a fitting farewell as a sign of respect for his service to the country.

Jurgen Klinsmann, who drew flak for not naming the veteran into their World Cup lineup, said that everyone is looking forward to Donovan's final game for the USMNT, saying that all the great things the soccer icon did will be relished on Friday night.

"Coming into this game, into this farewell moment, his decision to leave the game after the season, you want to look at these 13-15 years he played on a very high level, breaking records throughout the system here after coming through the youth system here of U.S. Soccer, the residence program, so he represents so many elements of soccer in the United States," Klinsmann said of Donovan via Goal.

The 32-year-old forward played for 15 years for USMNT. He will end his career as the current all-time leader in goals scored with 57 and assists with 58, which could still increase depending on his performance against Ecuador where he is scheduled to start wearing the captain's armband and play for at least 30 minutes.

With Donovan's impending exit, 19-year-old Julian Green and 21-year-old DeAndre Yedlin are also expected to have a fair share of the spotlight. Klinsmann previously said that Green and Yedlin would play major role for USMNT moving forward.

The USMNT will look to tally their second straight win after scoring a 1-0 win against Czech Republic last month off a 39th-minute goal from Alejandro Bedoya.

On the other hand, Ecuador ran away with an impressive 4-0 win against Bolivia on Sept. 6 before losing to a Neymar-led Brazil, 1-0, on Sept. 9 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The U.S.-Ecuador match will kick off at 7 p.m. EST and will be shown live on ESPN and through online live streaming via WatchESPN.
