Sex scenes in movies are usually awkward, especially for real-life exes.

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will be shooting a sex scene for the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Their characters, Beast and Mystique, have a romantic relationship for the movie that will be released in 2016, notes Hollywood Life.

"Earlier this year that seemed like a great idea. But now they've split, and it's too late to rewrite the script," The Sun said. "They are very professional of course and will make it work."

Writer and producer Simon Kinberg decided to focus on Beast and Mystique's relationship because the two didn't have as much time together in previous movies.

"The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn't have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we'll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse," Kinberg said.

Kinberg also wants to show more of the relationship between Magneto and Professor X, or Erik and Charles respectively.

"I think that the friendship between Erik and Charles, which has always been so integral to the franchise, is something we're continuing to explore and hopefully deepen with Apocalypse."

The movie will also focus on the beginnings of Mystique. The first movie in the new series showed her befriending Charles as children, but there's no explanation as to how she ended up there.

James McAvoy, who plays Professor X, said he will be a bit older in the upcoming movie, and he will be missing his hair.

The movie also promises to be much bigger.

"From a visual standpoint it actually may be a bigger movie than 'Days of Future Past,' because there'll be disaster movie imagery, like the title would imply," director Bryan Singer said.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is going to be the final movie in the series.
