Latin Social Media Wrap Up: 'The Book of Life' Stars Stay Busy on Twitter
The stars of the new Day of the Dead-themed animated feature "The Book of Life" have been busy on social media. The film from Jorge Gutierrez premieres Thursday, and the celebrities bringing the 20th Century Fox movie to life are sharing news of the premiere via Twitter.
"The Book of Life" follows the story of Manolo, a man fighting with the charming Joaquin for the heart of the beautiful Maria. When the spirits La Muerte and Xibalba begin to interfere, Manolo is killed and sent on a journey to the afterlife and must try to return to the human world and be reunited with his love.
Actress Zoe Saldana, who plays the main love interest Maria in "The Book of Life," took to Twitter to promote the film and share pictures from the Hollywood premiere of the film. Saldana is in the midst of her first pregnancy with Italian artist husband Marco Perego. The couple recently announced they are expecting twin boys, and the actress tweeted lovely pictures of her "glam team" preparing her for the red carpet on Monday.
Saldana then shared a picture with her followers a photo of her with co-star Diego Luna and director Gutierrez.
"So fun! I can't wait for you all to see it!" she beamed.
Fellow actor Diego Luna, who voices the main protagonist Manolo in the film, tweeted and shared both his own and fan-uploaded pictures of the premiere. One such image was a selfie with the "Y tu mamá también" performer and a painted and Day of the Dead-costumed woman, as well as a mariachi band.
"So happy to be here at the premiere," Luna said. "Que emocion!"
The director was also in good spirits, Gutierrez jokingly tweeted Tuesday that he hopes that the film performs well on its opening weekend "so he can more churros!"
