Sofia Vergara Emmys 2013: Actress' Colombian Entourage and Stunning Red Dress Ease Fourth Consecutive Loss
Sofia Vergara may have been passed over for "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series" at the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards for the fourth time, but the feisty Colombian actress had a secret weapon that her ABC "Modern Family" cast didn't have -- a Colombian entourage of 20 friends and family.
The Latin bombshell who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the four-time Emmy award-winning show lost out to "Nurse Jackie" star Meritt Wever, among a competitive group of contenders, including Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock"), Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Julie Bowen ("Modern Family"), Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory") and Anna Chlumsky ("Veep"). The loss didn't dampen Vergara's spirits, however. Like a true Colombian, she knew the party must go on, and boy it did!
With her supportive Colombian entourage in tow, Vegara rocked a stunning red Vera Wang gown and a reported $7 million dollars worth of jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, which included sapphire, ruby and diamond earrings and the signature gem of Colombia -- a giant emerald ring, according to People's StyleWatch. While Vegara donned fancy jewels, she pointed out that part of her ensemble didn't have a hefty price tag -- her Kmart lingerie line.
After the awards wrapped up, Vegara attended HBO and Fox Emmy parties where she hit the dance floor with her real family and TV family. As the night progressed, the comedic actress took to twerking, according to The Huffington Post. She attended Jimmy Fallon's after-party where she gave Miley Cyrus some friendly competition on social media by twerking in a photo, saying " Miley Cyrus this is where the twerk was invented. Colombia!"
It's safe to say that the 41-year-old star isn't a sore loser, after partying it up with her Colombian entourage of 20 friends and family, a foam-finger free twerkfest and a picture of her eating a giant, juicy hamburger that she posted later on that night. Vergara is resilient, and much like her character on the show she has a lot of spunk and a great sense of humor, both worthy of a trophy.
