'Insurgent' News, Plot, Cast & Release Date: Will Jai Courtney's Eric Die?
In a few weeks, the trailer to the upcoming "Insurgent" will be revealed, but there is still very little known about the film and details have been scarce.
Jai Courtney recently spoiled one of the key scenes in the film. He told Moviepilot that his character Eric dies. He said, "Do I die, yes. Yeah, there's no spoilers there cause it was already written in the a different medium, so I'm happy to say that. It's cool, we just wrapped on that the other week. That was actually a lot of fun, it was a lot of fun to go back and a role the second time."
Another interesting development for the film is that the principal photography took place in Atlanta, Georgia, as opposed to Chicago where "Divergent" was shot. According to the source on location, the team did do some aerial shots of Chicago and are now moving to second unit work in the Windy City.
Puck Productions also released a press release with details that revealed that filming would take place in the city and that certain areas would be closed off.
Actress Shailene Woodley shared some interesting thoughts about shooting the latest installment.
"It's interesting because the movie feels bigger in tone and in image but in a scene it feels smaller," the 22-year-old said. "Some scenes feel like we're doing an indie film in a way because they're so full of truth."
The actress also added that new director for the film, Robert Schwentke, made the cast feel comfortable on set as they went through filming and gave the "right flow" and "right tone" before proceeding.
The actress also added that her character Tris will undergo a great deal of changes emotionally from the first installment, and that she will share more scenes with Ansel Elgort who plays her brother Caleb.
"Insurgent" tells the story of Beatrice Prior who must confront her inner demons and continue her fight against a powerful alliance, which threatens to tear her society apart. The movie will see Kate Winslet reprise her role as Jeanine and Theo James will return as Four. Maggie Q will also return as Miles Teller, who recently lambasted his involvement in the film. Zoe Kravitz and is also slated to return to the franchise.
Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer will take on the role of Johanna, and Naomi Watts will star in her franchise as Four's mother Evelyn.
The script for this new film was written by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman, who is better known for his work on "A Beautiful Mind," "I, Robot," "Cinderella Man" and "Angels and Demons."
Summit will release the film on March 20, 2015, a year after "Divergent" became a box office hit. The first installment $150 million domestically and $288 million internationally. Despite the lackluster reviews, the film was able to reach its targeted audience and fans of the book.
Summit hopes "Insurgent" will obtain the same result and even improve upon these results.
