Bayonetta 2 Review: Released for Wii U, Heroine Combat Game Features Nintendo-themed Costumes and Weapons
"Bayonetta 2" had its simultaneous release on Oct. 24 in the United States and Europe. It was initially launched on Sept. 20 in Japan.
New trailers show how the Wii U exclusive game has been injected with Nintendo flavor by Platinum Games.
According to IGN, Bayonetta will embellish several of Nintendo's themed costumes while using such weapons as the Chain Chomp. She can wear Fox's costume, the outfit of Samus Aran or a pink skirt that is similar to the one worn by Princess Peach.
According to the review that appeared on GamesRadar, the Wii U exclusive game still retains the sassy Bayonetta with her killer heels and hair combination like the original game. Apparently, Platinum delivered once again as the main game's last four hours and, according to the review, was utterly sensational. However, they found it a bit short of matching the original version's magic.
The combat was still fantastic and Bayonetta's four limbs can hold weapons and players can choose which weapon to put on each limb, such as guns, flame-throwers or a whip. More weapons can be unlocked as the game continues. The integration of several combos was remarkably seamless.
However, its slickness gives it some disadvantage as well. The visuals are very rich and the surfaces are very shiny. The textures were rendered in high resolution and the designs of the enemies were very detailed. However, all these make it difficult for the gamer to tell what's actually going on.
The camera system makes it difficult to see the enemies that are within attack distance behind the player, which allows for some unseen attacks. This puts the player at a big disadvantage, since the game involves a ranking mode.
There are also several difficulty spikes that could only be handled when the gamer buys new moves and unlocks better weapons.
