Chelsea Handler Compares Topless Photo to Pic by Russia President Vladimir Putin, Gets Censored by Instagram
Chelsea Handler is no stranger to posing topless or poking fun at others.
A new photo by Handler featured the comedienne riding a horse, which she decided to post alongside a photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the image, both are topless and riding a horse.
Handler posted the picture to Instagram and saw it quickly removed.
"Anything a man can do, a woman has the right to do better #kremlin," the caption read.
The former E! host became very upset about the censoring of her photo. She took to Twitter, where she also posted a screenshot of the photo before it was deleted from Instagram (which is still on Twitter), to air her grievances.
"Taking this down is sexist," she said when she re-posted the image. "I have every right to prove I have a better body than Putin."
Handler re-uploaded the photo to Instagram, but it was once again taken down by Instagram. She posted the message she received from Instagram, which told her that the image was not suitable for the social media network's community guidelines. The notice also advised Handler to familiarize herself with the guidelines so that next time she knew what she could post.
Handler did not take this well.
"If a man posts a photo of his nipples, it's ok, but not a woman? Are we in 1825?" she said.
She decided to try posting the picture one more time. This time, she said that if Instagram took down the photo the company would be saying that Putin has "more 1st amendment rights ..." The image was once again removed.

Handler is not the only celebrity who has had a problem with Instagram's guidelines.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter, Scout Willis, posted an image of a shirt she designed, which featured two topless women. Instagram removed the image, and Scout was offended and upset. She went on to express her disappointment on Instagram and, eventually, protested by stepping out topless in New York City in an effort to show how her actions are legal in New York but not on Instagram. She also took issue with the fact that Instagram allowed pictures of other things that she considers much more harmful.
Rihanna also shared a picture of her topless magazine cover and saw it removed.
