Apple Watch Release Date Reportedly Pushed Back Due to Product's Low Battery Life
Apple fans will have to wait later than expected to pick up the new Apple Watch.
Although Apple Inc. originally stated that the new smart watch would be available by early 2015, it is being reported that the gadget won't go on sale until next spring.
According to a report published by tech blog 9to5Mac on Sunday, Apple's senior vice president of retail and online stores Angela Ahrendts sent an internal video message to her employees informing them of the pushback of the release date.
"We're going into the holidays, we'll go into Chinese New Year and then we've got a new watch launch coming in the spring," Ahrendts said in the video, according to a transcript obtained by 9to5Mac.
The highly anticipated Apple Watch was first unveiled in September, however it appears that the mega company is still fine-tuning the timepiece. Some tech experts say that Apple is working on improving the watch's battery life.
Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the first-generation model will last all day, but must be charged each night. Now the company is working to speed up the amount of time it takes for the inductive MagSafe charging system to work on the product.
Inside sources have also revealed that Apple executives are working retail strategies for the new category of watches. Part of the marketing plan is to equip all retail employees to be able to help customers actually try on the Apple Watch, including swapping out different sizes and bands.
In addition to the smartwatch, Apple is also expected to released a rumored 13-inch or 12-inch iPad, reports CNet.
In September, Apple also released new versions of their signature iPhones. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus were made available for sale on Sept. 19 in the United States.
